Mr. Jagdeep Singh Bedi was initiated into sitar and surbahar by                      
                         his father, Shri Tara Singh Bedi who was both a sitaris and                             
                         vocalist of repute and senior discipline of pt. Krishnarao Shankar                    
                         Pandit of the Gwalior Gharana. Jagdeep's skills were honed and                    
                         developed by the reputed sitar guru, Shri Anil Dhar, who                                 
                         imparted the intricacies of the sitar and surbahar in the style of                       
                         the Senia Gharana, and the later by Shri Kalyan Mukherjee,                           
                         senior disciple Pt. Radhika Mohan Moitra. Jagdeep was received                    
                         extensive training under Shri Debashish Mukherjee, a sitarist of                      
                         great proficiency.


Mr. Jagdeep has the rare skill of excelling in both instruments: the sitar and the surbahar.

He has also distinguished himself academically, receiving a Gold Medal in his M.A. and
M.Phil. in Music from the University of Delhi. He is also the recipient of the National
Scholarship, awarded by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. Jagdeep received the
Surmani Award for his performance at the Haridas Sangeet Sammelan.

Over the years, Mr. Jagdeep has proved his mettle giving stellar performances at leading
musical venues in the country and abroad.

Mr. Jagdeep is empanelled with the Indian Council for Coultural Relations and is an
accredited and acclaimed soloist with All India Radio for both sitar and surbahar.
As a mark of outstanding ability to play both instruments.

He has also researched into aspects of orchestration as well as compositions for
instrument-ensembles.

Mr. Jagdeep continues teaching in Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Music School in Delhi.
